The Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG denomination is reserved for white wines made exclusively from Erbaluce grapes and produced in the still, sparkling, passito, and passito riserva styles. The sparkling version must be crafted using the traditional method, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle and a minimum ageing period of 15 months on the lees. The passito wines require extended maturation: at least 36 months for the Passito and 48 months for the Passito Riserva.
The production area covers 37 municipalities between Ivrea and Caluso, in the heart of the Canavese region. Here, Erbaluce thrives on the morainic hillsides, where sandy, stony soils and naturally high acidity give the wines remarkable freshness, minerality, and a distinctive character—an authentic expression of this unique corner of Piedmont.
